Wisecracking activist Michael Moore's latest book was causing trouble before it was even published. A hectoring snarl at corporate America and George "Thief-in-Chief" Bush in particular, Stupid White Men looked set to be another casualty of 11 September - HarperCollins shelved its planned autumn 2001 publication date and ordered Moore to tone down his dissent. But with 50,000 copies already printed, Moore used his own website to make the untouched book a prepublication best seller, going straight in at number three in the sales charts when released proper in February 2002.
