Sam heads for Hampstead

TV actress Samantha Janus has moved to a bay-fronted, two-bedroom ground-floor flat in Hampstead. The white-stucco Victorian conversion is a short hop in her blue Range Rover to the High Street's fashionable cafès and bars. Formerly married to BA steward Mauro Mantovani, she now has a twoyearold son from her actor boyfriend Mark Womack. "Samantha has been looking in the £650,000 price range," confides a local agent.

Roger Moore grew up in a rented first-floor two-bedroom flat in Albert Square, Stockwell. Now Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward is selling the whole five-storey Victorian house for £1.2 million. Monte Carlo-based Moore, a policeman's son, would hardly recognise the refurbished Grade II listed building now, with its four bedrooms and selfcontained basement flat. "His family moved there when Roger started school," say the agents. "At 15 he entered the local art college with the idea of becoming a painter."

Interior designer Dan Hopwood, who co-presented Channel 4's Britain's Best Home series, is selling his one-bedroom basement flat in West Kensington for £259,000 through Hollingsworth. Whoever buys it will inherit his "warm minimalist style", complete with Astro-turfed patio, as well as his next-door neighbour, Olympic oarsman Matthew Pinsent. "I'm moving to a two-bedroom flat in Covent Garden," says Hopwood. "It's quite a bargain on the first floor of a brand-new development." The cost? £540,000.

You don't have to be a rock star to live near Richmond Green but it helps. Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend and co-Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood all live within a short strutting distance from Cedar Grove. This late-18th century, Grade II listed mansion, set in nearly an acre of grounds, has seven bedrooms and five reception rooms. It also has a swimming pool, off-street parking and a walled garden with one wall dating from the Tudor Richmond Palace.
