Meat Loaf sparked concern among fans over his “frail” appearance on This Morning.

The 69-year-old – who collapsed on stage in Canada earlier this year – told hosts Eammon Holmes and Ruth Langsford that he was feeling “pretty good” but a “little tired”.

Meat Loaf – real name Michael Aday – opened up about his recent health scare and said his weight could have played a part.

He said: “It's probably caused by weighing 300lbs most of my life. I’m now at 225lbs but I was up to 340lbs at one point.

“When you have that much weight on your knees and your back it takes [its toll] although running and jumping around the stage doesn't help.”

Viewers expressed their concern on Twitter, with some suggesting that he looked to be struggling to speak.

One viewer tweeted: “Meatloaf looking canny at 69 but not sounding good. Awful seeing a legend deteriorate.”

Another wrote: “Meatloaf is very obviously not well. He looks so ill he can hardly speak.”

One user told viewers to cut him some slack, tweeting: “Age & ill health can catch up with the best of us. Of course Meat Loaf isn't gonna be how we remember him.”

Meat Loaf recently revealed that he underwent emergency spinal fusion surgery after collapsing on stage due to chronic back pain.

Speaking to the Standard he said: “I literally was dying on stage, I was in so much pain. But I didn’t want to cancel because I hate cancelling.

“So many rock people died in such a small space of time. But I’m not dead. I’m not planning on it.”

Meat Loaf is in London to promote Jim Steinman’s Bat Out Of Hell — The Musical. During his visit to the capital he attended the Q Awards where he used a cane as he took to the stage to accept the Q Hero Award.
