Liam Gallagher has dismissed reports that he is retiring from music.

Gallagher, 43, responded to claims in The Sun which reported that the former Oasis frontman told a fan that he had quit making music.

The publication quoted the star as saying: "I am retired now. I can write 25 songs but all of them will be s**t".

He also hinted at a possible retirement as he live tweeted the BRIT Awards last month, posting: "Music in the UK has been abducted by massive c***s... Thank f**k I got out when I got out".

But a spokesperson for the singer has dismissed the claims telling NME: "In true tabloid style it's not true".

In January Gallagher appeared to rule out the possibility of going solo following the break-up of his band Beady Eye in 2014.

Responding to his brother Noel's suggestion that he should go solo, he tweeted: “Solo record are you f*****g tripping d**khead I’m not a c**t LG X.”
