Wood, should be aware of a wonderful little mischief perpetrated by his widow, Patricia. "The blue plaque outside showing that he lived there was actually put up by her," reveals a neighbour. English Heritage confirm that "a person must have been dead for at least 20 years before we would consider a plaque". The award-winning director of The Servant and The Go-Between died in 1984.

Former wild child and ex-girlfriend of Keanu Reeves, Amanda de Cadenet, is looking for a two-bedroom property to rent in west London. Her budget is £600 a week. "Ideally Amanda would like a pretty little cottage somewhere in Kensal Green," say agents Chard. "But it must have a garden as she has two Chihuahuas." De Cadenet, raised in South Kensington, has returned from California after seven years, claiming she misses her pet terrier Flipper more than Hollywood star Reeves.

West End actress Ruthie Henshall and her boyfriend Canadian actor Tim Howar have rented a one-bedroom flat in Hampstead for £325 a week through Foxtons. "It's a real bargain as we have our own little garden and are only a short walk from Hampstead Heath," says Henshall, currently starring in the West End hit The Vagina Monologues.

The family of the late Scots laird Lord Craigmyle are £12 million richer having just sold his South Kensington town house, 18 The Boltons, through FPDSavills. Among those interested in buying the Grade II listed four-storey house was Britain's first internet billionaire, Dr Mike Lynch. "In the end it was bought by someone far less highprofile," says a member of the family.

Noël Coward fans will relish the chance of buying a double-fronted three-storey house in Chesham Street, Belgravia, for sale at £725,000 through Chestertons. Coward was a frequent visitor to the home, which belonged to his close friend, actress Joyce Carey. "Noël affectionately nicknamed it 'The Baby Gran' because, although it has two bedrooms, a reception room and a dining room, it measures only 760 sq ft", says a friend. Carey appeared in many Coward productions, including his classic railway station romance, Brief Encounter.
