Property heiress Tamara Beckwith has become the first high-profile purchaser of a flat in Kings Chelsea, Northacre's £255 million development of 288 flats and houses on the former King's College site. She has paid an estimated £1,250,000 for a third-floor three-bedroom apartment overlooking King's Road. "Tamara is going for quite a stark and modern look," says her interior decorator Martin Lawrence-Bullard. "She was impressed by the 24-hour security, swimming pool, gym and mod cons."

Faron Sutaria is selling a blue-plaque property in Ravenscourt Road, Hammersmith, which once belonged to the Arts and Crafts artist Christopher Whall. The £1,800,000 Victorian house has six bedrooms, three reception rooms, a westfacing garden and views across Ravenscourt Park. Whall is best known for his stained-glass windows in Gloucester Cathedral.

The childhood home of the late comedian Peter Sellers in Muswell Hill Road, Highgate, is for sale at £349,000 through Winkworth. A plaque erected by the Dead Comics Society reveals that he occupied the two-bedroom cottage between 1936 and 1940, when he was a pupil at St Aloysius College, Hornsey. His mother Peg ran a Highgate antiques shop. "The property is currently being used as an office and is therefore in need of modernisation," say the agents. "But it has tremendous potential for a new owner-occupier."

As befits a former editor of Vogue, Audrey Withers's home reflected her impeccable taste. The faded grandeur of her one-bedroom, second floor pied-à-terre in St George's Fields, Paddington, is on sale for £242,500 through Chestertons. Withers, who recently died aged 96, helped to launch the careers of 1950s supermodels Barbara Goalen and Fiona Campbell-Walter as well as encouraging photographers such as Norman Parkinson and Cecil Beaton. "The flat comes with an underground parking space and west-facing terrace as well as access to the communal garden," say the agents.

BBC Newsnight's latest economics guru Stephanie Flanders is adopting a wait-and-see approach to the London property market. "I've recently returned from five years working in New York and Washington," she explains. "My onebedroom flat in Hoxton, east London currently has tenants in and so I'm renting a large two-bedroom flat in Shepherd's Bush near the BBC TV centre in White City. I can't make up my mind whether to return to Hoxton or buy a larger property closer to my office." Stephanie, daughter of the late humourist Michael Flanders, was brought up in South Kensington.
