Garden hideaways

There are more than 25 artworks secreted amid the teeming permanent displays of old garden artefacts in the Museum of Garden History - but finding them is like playing hunt the thimble.

Sadly, this is the problem that beset the museum's last group exhibition, Diversity, last summer. Not only did it take an age to follow the unnecessarily complicated plan, but the work was badly labelled and it required infinite patience to work out just who did what - an exercise that marred what could have been an enjoyable show of fine work.

This year, the artists have attempted to respond to the histories of the dead buried within the grounds of this former parish church. Informed by a sense of craftsmanship and fine detail, much of the work, when you can find it, responds well to its setting.

Clare Bryan shows an intricate cut-out book of the horizontal panorama of Lambeth's West Square, the home of Robert Baker, who patented panoramic painting in the 18th century.

Sarah Woodfine shows beautifully detailed pencil drawings of coffins which resemble flat paper cut-outs; and, in the museum's exquisite garden, Shane Waltener shows a nylon crocheted spiderweb shimmering under a blazing mid-afternoon sun.

If the show is a disappointment, a thematically linked programme of films might, at least, just about make up for it. Showing tonight and tomorrow, this includes a film by cult American director Kenneth Anger and Clio Barnard's short piece on famous Lambeth resident William Blake.
