Stacey Dash the congresswoman? Clueless actress to 'run for Congress' in California

Actress Stacey Dash is running for congress after filing the relevant paperwork on Monday.

The Clueless star – who has turned conservative political commentator – reportedly intends to make a bid for election to California’s 44th District as a Republican, in a seat currently held by a Democrat.

Earlier this month, Dash alluded to potential political plans on Twitter with a tweet reading: “A number of people online and off have suggested I run for political office. I wanted to see what my online community thinks of this idea as I mull the possibilities. Thoughts?”

And now Dash appears to have endorsed the claims after telling followers a “formal statement” is coming soon and thanking people for support.

The 51-year-old posted: “Formal statements coming. For those mocking for the district I live in...open your minds. It’s time to for me to put up or shut up and I want to serve great people.

“I live in the 44th unlike some who don’t live in their districts. Thank you to those who offered their support.

“Come to my account for the straight news. Formal statements coming.”
