What a blow: How Imrie’s Celebrity Traitors fart followed her to the Baftas

Actress Celia Imrie was singled out multiple times during the Bafta TV Awards for her nervous fart on Celebrity Traitors.
The 73-year old, who presented during the award ceremony, starred in the first series of the hit spin-off show, which won the Bafta for best reality series on Sunday night.
One notable moment from the series was when Imrie broke wind while during one of the challenges – to the surprise of many of her co-stars.
Among the speeches on Sunday night, Imrie’s flatulence came up a number of times including during comedian and host Greg Davies’s opening monologue.
He said: “I was a little surprised. I trust Bafta’s judgment, of course I do, but I was a little surprised there was one thing that wasn’t nominated for TV memorable moment of the year.
“Celia, you can relax. I am not talking about you. Relax. I mean, I say relax – not too much, obviously.”
Later, Imrie’s fellow Traitor, comedian Alan Carr, mentioned her after picking up the award for TV memorable moment of the year for the moment he won the series.
Referencing the cast currently filming the second series, Carr said: “I’m so jealous of all the celebrities up there that are doing it. I wish I could do it all again.
“Sometimes, when I’m a bit sad, I’ll sit there and remember the laughter. You know, I can even still smell Celia’s fart.”

Hollywood star Seth Rogan also mentioned the incident while accepting the International Bafta award for The Studio.

During his speech, Rogan pointed to Imrie and said: “I assume this woman in the green dress is a very skilled and talented woman, all I know is that she farted on a reality show.
“I am interested in your other work now, honestly. What else have you done?”
Imrie starred in The Thursday Murder Club with Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley.
She has also starred in Calendar Girls and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, alongside Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Dev Patel.
