Nicole Scherzinger is going to the extremes to ensure that she is in the best shape for her new role.

Scherzinger, 37, this week confirmed that she will play Penny in the TV adaptation of Dirty Dancing – and has already hit the gym.

Despite being wired up and fixed to a breathing implement she looked glamorous with pink lipstick and a full face of make-up.

She captioned the shot: “#dirtydancing !!! I'm so excited!!! Lol! I'm coming for ya! #imcomingforyou.”

The former Pussycat Doll confirmed she would be playing Penny - portrayed by Cynthia Rhodes in the 1987 film - on Twitter.

She posted: “So excited to join the cast of @ABCNetwork #DirtyDancing remake! Can't wait for you all to see it!”

She joins Abigail Breslin who will play Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman in the ABC TV remake.

Jennifer Grey starred as Baby in the original movie set in the 1960s at the summer resort of Catskill Mountains where she fell for dancer Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze).

Wayne Blair will direct the three-hour TV show while Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie, will also be involved.

An air date is yet to be released.
