A Short History of Performance: Part II

Last year, the Whitechapel Art Gallery held a series of performance art re-enactments and, to show there might yet be life in what is often the most confounding of artforms, the gallery now presents Part II.

The week kicks off tonight with Andrea Fraser's Official Welcome; while Wednesday sees a screening of Robert Morris's 1964 video, 21.3. Carey Young performs a piece encouraging 'revolutionary behaviour' on Thursday. This is followed by Martha Rosler's Semiotics Of The Kitchen.

On Friday, artists/theorists Inventory combine obtuse statements with music; while the acoustics go down a scale on Saturday, as Mark Dion takes to the lecture stand. This is followed by The Atlas Group's The Loudest Muttering Is Over. Joseph Beuys (he's dead, so it won't be live) headlines Sunday's finale. It's certainly eclectic.
