A chronological merry-go-round

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu followed the wildly kinetic Amores Perros with this chronological merry-go-round involving a heart transplant patient, a good woman and a born-again ex-con.

With Sean Penn, Naomi Watts, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Benicio Del Toro, it's hard to go wrong, and Inarritu forges a heart-rending drama, even if the insistence on chopping up the narrative into tiny pieces and scattering them before the viewer seems unnecessary with such a strong story.

Different from Amores Perros, but still three stories and a traffic accident; let's hope he tries something different next time. With 'making of' featurette.
