He gives us pictures of empty beds, of dining tables recently vacated, an almost sepia-tinged blurry image of a wintry lattice of tree branches. Some of the nude portraits are incredible. With their strange shadows, fade-outs and blurs, they are reminiscent of a lot of iconic photography from the turn of the last century. The competition (to be decided on May 11) doesn't always offer a clear favourite. But this year, in Engstrom, it does.
