Capturing the bulldog spirit

Forty years after Churchill's death this new £14m museum inside the Cabinet War Rooms promises to reveal the man behind the statesman, so his baby rattle, school reports and love letters sit alongside official photos, wartime newsreels and government documents.

You can even admire his trademark suit and spotted bow tie. An electronic 'lifeline' allows you to journey through his life - from the Boer to the Cold War and each section is supported by film, photo and sound archives.
