Brosnan son in drug arrest

Pierce Brosnan's adopted son Christopher has been arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin.

The film producer, who has fought a long battle against drug and alcohol addiction, was held by police investigating a Yardie-style drugs gang.

After being arrested as he left a house in Brixton, South London, he was taken to a police station and the substance he was said to be carrying was sent away for analysis.

He was bailed to report back to police in August.

The news will be a huge disappointment to James Bond star Brosnan who has tried hard to keep Christopher, 32, on the straight and narrow.

He adopted Christopher and his sister Charlotte when he married their mother Cassandra Harris in 1980 and all were devastated when she died from

cancer in 1991. Brosnan ensured his adopted children were taken care of, even getting Christopher work on the Bond films.

But in 1996 he was fined £1,000 for drink- driving in America. The following year he was jailed for three months for the same offence. In September-2001, a few weeks after his father married for a second time, he checked into a rehabilitation clinic.

Not long afterwards he collapsed in the street outside the London nightclub Chinawhite and fell into a coma, having reportedly overdosed on the 'dance' drug GHB. His sister Charlotte, 34, has also battled drug addiction and depression, while his half brother Sean, 21, was suspended from school for fighting and is well known on the London party circuit.

Brosnan's new wife, television presenter Keely Shaye Smith, has urged him to 'sort out' his three eldest children for the sake of their young sons Dylan Thomas, eight, and Paris Beckett, four.

The actor, who lost the role as Bond last year, has voiced concern that his fame may have damaged his children.

'It's not uncommon, in this day and age, when you're a personality or you have a profile that certain things happen to your children,' he once said.
