A sparkle from the East

If you love shopping, jewellery and a taste of the East, Silver Salsa is a show that could be right up your street.

Elegant accessories, utensils and ornaments made by London artists will be displayed for sale alongside performances from a fusion of cultures.

The thinking behind the exhibition is to provide a platform for individual artists to show their work, who might otherwise be squeezed out of the increasingly international and expensive market.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka will open the afternoon in traditional national style with the lighting of oil lamps and dancers will heat up the atmosphere with salsa and South American dancing.

Organiser of the event Ishreen Marka said: “London has a great pool of talented designers who find it hard to compete in an increasingly international market due to the high cost of production and
marketing.

“Their businesses could cease trading if no action is taken, leaving large retail chains to dominate the market with run of the mill products. These specialist designers must have access to clients and benefactors who truly appreciate their work if they are to succeed. SilverSalsa provides this platform.”
