Love it or hate it: Asda is selling a Marmite-flavoured Easter egg this year

You'll either love it or you'll hate it but Asda is selling a Marmite flavoured chocolate egg, just in time for Easter.

Described by the company as the "The one and only yestier egg", the savoury spread-flavoured treat will set shoppers back just £3 - for those who are brave enough to buy it.

Each egg weighs 160g and they are expected to be popular, so if you want to get your hands on one you had best be quick before they sell out.

Asda is stocking them both in store and online and judging by the reaction to the egg, you might not be able to see them on the shelves for much longer.

The egg itself is described as a marmite flavour chocolate egg - although the specifics of what this entails we have yet to experience.

According to the product description, it reads: "Yeast extract. Full on flavour. The one and only yeastier egg. 100% vegetarian."

It also comes with the marketing tagline: "Love it or hate it! You just have to try it!"

But with 100g of the treat weighing in at a whopping 517 calories, it's not for those looking to lose weight — but chocolate rarely is.

It's received a strong reaction online, too, with one Twitter user writing: "I love Marmite but a Marmite-flavoured Easter egg. No. Just no."

However, some of the reviews weren't quite as negative, with one Twitter using writing: "I want the marmite flavour Easter egg."
