£7 Morrisons Ruby Port wins platinum award at Decanter World Wine Awards

Christmas is just around the corner and that means it's time to stock up on enough alcohol to last you for the festive season.

But enjoying this tipple does not need to break the bank. Morrisons has just been awarded the prized ‘platinum’ honour at the Decanter World Wine Awards – and the best part? It is only £7.

The Morrisons beverage is the only supermarket port to win the esteemed accolade, beating out bottles like the Burmesta that costs £395 and received the gold award.

The unique port combines chocolate and black cherry flavours and was created with one of the largest producers in Portugal, the Symington family who have been making the fortified wine for 14 generations.

The rich port is made exclusively in the Douro Valley, in the northern provinces of Portugal and is best paired with dessert cheese and biscuits as the perfect tipple to complete your meal.
