X down: Thousands of users report issues with social media site

X users reported widespread outages with the social media platform on Thursday morning.

The site, previously known as Twitter, had experienced almost 30,000 outages as of 7.17am, according to Downdetector.

50% of problems reported were regarding the timeline, and 41% were about the app, while 6% of reports related to website problems.

The problem prevented people from seeing their feeds or carrying out searches.

The issues with the platform, which is owned by Elon Musk, were first reported at around 6.55am.

By 7.30am, the issues seemed to have subsided, with reported problems coming down and timelines reloading around the world.

Downdetector allows users of popular sites to report if they are having trouble accessing services.
