One person has died and several have been injured after a man drove a vehicle into a crowd in the Finnish capital Helsinki, police say.
The incident happened at about 6pm local time, at a junction in the centre of the city.
A large swathe of the area was cordoned off by police as emergency services vehicles descended on the scene.
The driver, a man in his 50s who police said appeared to be intoxicated, was arrested.
At least four people were reportedly taken to hospital, with a number of others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Police superintendent Patrik Karlsson said that there are no indications the incident was terrorism.
Although the Nordic country has not experienced any recent terror attacks itself, attacks across Europe led the Finnish Security Intelligence Service to raise its threat level last month.
The incident came just hours after an man reportedly shouting "Allahu Akbar" stabbed a number of people in a supermarket in Hamburg, killing one woman.
