This is the heart-stopping moment a bride almost drowns in a “trash the dress” stunt which goes horribly wrong.
The clip shows the newly-wed gearing up to take plunge from a boat into the sea as onlookers cheer encouragement and music blares in the background.
The nervous-looking bride teeters on the brink as the groom, still dressed in his suit, circles the water below. She nods as a wedding guest asks her light-heartedly: “Do you want me to jump in after you? So she doesn’t sink.”
But as she leaps into water the heavy dress appears to engulf her, dragging her towards the depths.
Wedding guests have their hearts in their mouths as concerned party members jump into the ocean to try and lift the material from around her face.
One hysterical guest is heard shouting: “She’s like a ball in there. Find her. Grab the dress, grab the dress!
“Pull the dress up!”
After 27 seconds the panic-stricken bride resurfaces and takes a series of deep breaths to cheers from onlookers. It is believed the clip was taken at a wedding in America.
The stunt is part of the growing “trash the dress” trend where brides pose for photographs and videos while ruining their gown.
In 2012, a woman drowned after posing in her white wedding gown by the side of a river in Montreal.
Another bride even allowed a photographer to set fire to her dress while wearing it, in order to get that one-of-a-kind shot.
