Yesterday tensions ran high at the International Court at the Hague as Mladic appeared amused by the families of victims sitting in the gallery, and at one point, gave a bereaved mother a cut-throat gesture. As well as the massacre, Mladic is accused of being behind the violence against civilians in the capital, Sarajevo, during the 44-month siege, raining down shells and snipers bullets. He had been on the run for 15 years before being seized last year.
