'Chewbacca' arrested at Ukraine poll booths

Footage has emerged of police arresting a man dressed as Chewbacca after he was stopped by police while driving Darth Vader to a polling station.

Chewie was pulled over on Sunday by officers in Ukraine as he drove Vader to a voting booth for mayoral elections in Odessa where they were campaigning for the Dark Lord's Internet Party.

Rules under Ukrainian law forbid candidates from canvassing on voting day and Chewbacca was arrested after failing to show police his ID.

Four officers restrained and hadcuffed the Wookiee after the man resisted arrested, which led to a fine of 170 hryvnia (£4.87).

According to reports, Chewie said he was unable to pay the charge because his money was tied up in an intergalactic space bank.

Hours later, his mood worsened further when he arrived at the polling station to discover he was not registered to vote, despite holding a Ukrainan passport.
