Telephone number ‘tattoos’ to help protect lost children

Two London mothers have created an innovative way of keeping track of their children — by “tattooing” them with their contact details.

Entrepreneurs Lena Kyriacou and Susanna Eriksson, who are both Swedish and live in Brockley, have invented a temporary tattoo kit that enables parents to write their phone number on children in case they get lost.

The peel-off tattoo reads “If I am lost” followed by a space in which a phone number can be written using a special Kattoo pen, which is non-toxic and lasts up to five days.

If a child gets lost they can show the tattoo to a member of the public, an official or a police officer.

Mother-of-two Mrs Kyriacou, 42, a registered childminder, said children enjoy wearing tattoos but are averse to wristbands.

She came up with the idea with business partner Ms Eriksson, an accountant, three years ago after one of their friends lost her child at the Lord Mayor’s Show and spent 25 minutes panicking till she found him. The tattoos cost £5.99 for a pack of six and a pen, and are available online and in some shops.
