What are support bubbles and do they apply in Tier 1 and 2 zones?
London braces for Tier 2 lockdown restrictions at midnight
Support bubbles allow adults living alone or single parents living with children under the age of 18 to mix with one other household and interact as though they were one
Nationwide restrictions apply in Tier 1, which mean people can meet in a group of up to six people from multiple households either indoors or outdoors.
Under the Tier 2 restrictions, people cannot meet with anyone they do not live with indoors unless they are part of a support bubble. The rule of six applies for socialising outside.
In Tier 3 zones, meanwhile, mixing between households is banned outright, but support bubbles are exempt.
