New research has shown that one in three people would give a quality used or refurbished item to a loved one this Christmas amid the rising cost of living crisis.
The study commissioned by Amazon, revealed 93 per cent of those surveyed compared the price for “used” against new items and 34 percent said they always seek the refurbished or second-hand offers first.
More than 34 per cent said they would give good quality second-hand gifts to a loved one, showing a 20 per cent increase from last year.
“The beauty of second-hand shopping is that it’s like a treasure hunt. You never know what unique and valuable items you’ll discover while giving a second chance to pre-loved goods.”
The research also showed while 87 per cent of shoppers opt for second-hand items to save money, 59 per cent are motivated to be sustainable and extend a products life for the planet.
Following these findings, Amazon has introduced its Second Chance store which is open in Central London until December 12.
