Shakira to perform at the World Cup 2014 closing ceremony

Hips Don’t Lie singer Shakira will perfom La La La (Brazil 2014) at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium before the final on July 13.

The Colombian pop star who recently collaborated with Rihanna for ‘Remember to Forget You’ is gearing up to perform alongside Brazilian percussionist and singer Carlinhos Brown.

In a recent statement Shakira, who is married to Spanish footballer Gerard Pique, said "I have an intricate relationship with football for obvious reasons, and I truly understand what the World Cup means to so many people, myself included."

She went on to say, "The fans have shown the most incredible support for this song and I can't wait to perform it for them."

The singer who has a son with her football star beau, will make her third consecutive appearance at a World Cup closing ceremony. The She Wolf star who made her debut with the hit ‘Whenever, Wherever’ previously performed in South Africa in 2010 and in Germany in 2006.
