Pippa Middleton to write food column for Waitrose magazine

The Duchess of Cambridge’s sister will offer readers “casual dining ideas and recipes” under the title “Pippa’s Friday Night Feasts”.

The first contribution will appear in the April edition of Waitrose Kitchen, which goes on sale on 28 March adorned by a large picture of the new columnist on its cover.

It is Pippa Middleton’s third high-profile literary foray following the launch of her much-hyped party planning book Celebrate in October and a guest diarist spot in The Spectator magazine before Christmas.

Celebrate was widely lampooned for its “statement of the obvious” observations and spawned the twitter spoof #pippatips providing insights such as “Give a room that bright feeling by opening any blinds or curtains”.

But William Sitwell, editor of Waitrose Kitchen magazine leaped to the defence of his new signing.

He said: ”Pippa will be an excellent contributor to the magazine, bringing with her a wealth of experience of entertaining, gained in part from working at her family’s party business.

“Readers will love her relaxed and easy entertaining ideas which will help with the preparation for all sorts of occasions.”

Pippa Middleton said: ‘I’m delighted to be writing for Waitrose Kitchen, a magazine that’s always been a source of inspiration to me, for its extensive spectrum of food and beautiful style. My column, ‘Pippa’s Friday Night Feasts’, will be an exciting opportunity to share my own passion and enthusiasm for food and entertaining and I can’t wait to get started.”

The announcement immediately triggered a fresh outbreak of new “Pippatips-style” tweets including “When feeling hungry, try eating a meal. This could be breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a snack.”

Waitrose Kitchen is on sale in Waitrose supermarkets and costs £1.20 or free of charge to Waitrose or John Lewis cardholders.
