Nigel Farage blames ‘algorithm’ for waning Twitter following

Nigel Farage has been mocked for calling on Elon Musk to help fix the algorithm so he can regain his Twitter popularity.

The Brexit campaigner complained in a video about having “zero growth” for 18 months with his Twitter engagement falling to an “all-time low”.

He said in a video that he used to get 50,000 followers every month but blamed the algorithm and cancel culture for his waning follower count.

“Within the last few years [growth] has completely stopped”, he said.

“I’ve had no growth on Twitter whatsoever, the stuff I put out and say gets seen by far fewer people.

“Now it could be that my stuff is really dull and boring and I have nothing interesting to say, no original thoughts whatsoever.

“I don’t actually think that is the case”, he chuckles nervously.

Mr Farage later alleges that a UK Twitter executive used the “C-word” to describe him in a private meeting with a friend.

The former Brexit Party leader blames the “weird mathematical” algorithm for “shadow banning” him from Twitter and said the social network has a culture towards censorship and cancel culture.

He called on Elon Musk, the new owner of the platform, to “drain the Twitter swamp”.

“If anyone can do it, it’s this guy”, he finishes.

Twitter users were quick to inform Mr Farage his growth not being static as he claims but declining.

One replied, with a graph of Mr Farage’s publicly available follower information: “Your follower figures are publicly accessible and your growth is NOT static: you’ve been in decline for at least a year, but with a recent lift.”

Another quoted his claim to have had zero growth for 18 months. “At least you’re doing better than the UK economy post-Brexit, Mr Farage.”
