Mystery man found dead at reservoir was captured on station CCTV

Police have released CCTV footage of an unidentified man who was found dead by an Oldham reservoir a day after leaving Ealing.

The man was captured on camera on Friday December 11 at Manchester Piccadilly station - a day before he was found dead beside a Greater Manchester reservoir.

The mystery man's body was found on railway tracks leading from Oldham's Dovestone Reservoir boating lake.

He had no visible marks or injuries on his body, and police are not treating the death as suspicious.

The man was found with three train tickets on him - one from Ealing train station to Euston, which was bought at 9.04am from the ticket office on Friday December 11, and a return from Euston to Piccadilly, bought at 9.50am the same day.

Officers searching his body also found some money, but nothing to point them in the direction of his identity.

Last week police released CCTV images of the man at Ealing station.

Greater Manchester Police do not know whether the man was a Londoner or had simply been visiting the capital.

Detective Inspector Ian Harratt, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "We have previously released images from Ealing Tube station and now we are issuing moving CCTV footage from Manchester Piccadilly train station in a bid to try and identify this man.

"We do not know if this man is local or if he was visiting the area, but we are hoping that at this festive time of year, when families come together, that someone will realise this man is missing and contact police.

"Although we have had several phone calls from people with possible identifications for the deceased man from missing people around the country, which we are very grateful for, we have been able to rule these out as they are not the same person."
