It has also insisted that despite the low price of the products, it has not compromised on quality.
Lidl UK non-food buying manager Josie Stone said: “Parents can find themselves racking up thousands of pounds in the cost of school uniforms, which can be especially tough on families with more than one child.
“That’s why we wanted to offer families the best value, best quality option on the high street.”
The supermarket’s move into the school market comes after its main rival, Aldi, revealed it was offering a full primary school uniform for £5.
It has also claimed that parents would make an 80 per cent saving compared with John Lewis, a 56 per cent reduction compared with Tesco and a 50 per cent saving compared with Asda every year.
At John Lewis, the same items cost £19, at Marks & Spencer they are £15, Sainsbury’s £13.50, Tesco £8.50 and at Asda £7.50.
