Dodgeball driver may lose £100k car for 113mph in a 50mph zone

A British student faces having his £100,000 sports car impounded in Switzerland after he was caught driving at 113mph on a 50mph road during the notorious Dodgeball Rally.

Will Colebrook, 23, was stopped 10 miles from the finishing line in his Audi R8, which was competing against a £5 million convoy of high-performance cars in the annual London to Verbier race.

Mr Colebrook, a part-time model for the Hollister clothing chain and a student of architecture at Oxford Brookes University, was allowed to fly back to the UK but must return to Switzerland tomorrow to convince a judge to return his car.

His mother, Brenda Saunders, of Tonbridge, Kent, said his biggest fear was that the 196mph vehicle, which he recently bought with money from his parents, would be permanently impounded. “He was very close to the finishing line so put his foot down,” she said.

“He was caught in a speed trap and they impounded the car so he couldn’t finish the race. We’ve been told he has to apologise to the judge and, fingers crossed, he will get the car back.”

Mr Colebrook was one of eight entrants in the £2,250 per person race which started in Mayfair on February 29 and made stops in Paris and Burgundy.
