Stunning images show Buckingham Palace transformed by rainforest projection ahead of Queen’s Green Planet documentary

Buckingham Palace was illuminated with a rainforest design projected on to the building on Sunday night, ahead of The Queen's Green Planet documentary with Sir David Attenborough.

The vibrant image was displayed as part of a global conservation initiative in the Queen’s name, using the palace as a blank canvas to take the viewer into a forest canopy space.

It features Her Majesty’s Commonwealth Canopy Project (QCC) logo embedded with a pattern of foliage and tree silhouettes, transforming the iconic British building.

The project seeks to preserve precious areas of forest for future generations, and will also be the subject of the ITV documentary, which features The Queen and Attenborough and will be broadcast tonight at 9pm.

The projection also comes at the start of a week that will see representatives of 53 countries gather in London for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm).

Environmental themes and other issues of common interest will be discussed during the summit.

The Queen has planted more than 1,500 trees all over the world during the course of her 66-year reign.
