Asda recalls dummies after 'choking risk'

Asda has recalled some of its dummies over a choking risk following customer complaints.

The supermarket is warning parents to dispose of the Little Angels 2 Newborn Soothers 0+ Months or return the product to stores for a full refund.

It comes after a customer complained on Facebook the teat had detached from the hard casing in one dummy. The baby was not harmed.

It is the second time in just over two years the retailer has been forced to recall dummies.

Asda asked parents to return packs of the Little Angels Cherry Soother back in 2013 when a fault was identified.

An Asda spokesman said: "These are two isolated incidents involving different products. We are yet to conduct our investigation to identify the cause of the problem, but we take any complaints about baby products extremely seriously, which is why we have taken the decision to recall the soothers as a precaution."

In a notice to customers, the supermarket said: "These are sold in twin packs, the shield is clear and the plug on the front has a number of different designs.

"We have had one customer complaint that the teat has broken away and detached from the hard casing, so we have taken the precaution of taking the product off sale and recalling from customers due to the possible risk of choking.

"The care and safety of our customers is our top priority, which is why we are recalling the product even though there has been only one complaint and we are yet to conduct our investigation."
