Actor Warwick Davis enlists Twitter in hunt for his stolen caravan

Missing: The actor said the caravan appeared to have been taken with a wheel lock still attached

Actor Warwick Davies has taken to Twitter to ask for help tracing his stolen caravan.

The Star Wars and Harry Potter star has posted a series of tweets since it was taken in Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, on Thursday night. One containing a picture of the missing mobile home has been retweeted nearly 1,400 times.

The 3ft 6" tall actor wrote: "If you stole our caravan or know who did, please can we have the sentimental items back that are of no use to you? Special holiday memories."

Celebrities including Catchphrase presenter Stephen Mulhern and DJ Chris Moyles are among those to have shown their support.

In response to questions about the disappearance from Moyles, Davis explained it appeared to have been driven off with a wheel lock still attached.

Davis later thanked his 530,000 followers on Twitter for their "amazing support".

The 45-year-old is due to appear in forthcoming Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode VII, following on from roles in two previous instalments of the saga.

He has already played Wicket the Ewok in 1983's Return Of The Jedi and he took the roles of Weazel and Wald in The Phantom Menace in 1999.

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed it was investigating the theft of a caravan.
