Southeastern trains blames ‘bright sunlight’ again for rush hour delays

Bright sunlight has been blamed for delays on a Southeastern train during the morning commute - for the second time in a month.

Passengers claim they were delayed for 15 minutes at 9am this morning at Herne Hill because the driver couldn't see the monitors on the platform due to sunlight.

The company, which operates services between London, Kent and parts of East Sussex, suffered hold-ups on its network at the beginning of January for a similar problem.

The delays are said to be caused on the busy route because the angle of the sun means some drivers could not see the full length of their trains in their mirrors before leaving stations.

Commuter Anna Roberts, 31, of Penge, said: "The train stopped for ages in Herne Hill and everyone looked annoyed.
