One-year-old boy killed by falling wall reportedly knocked over by truck

A one-year-old boy has been crushed to death by a falling wall after it was reportedly hit by a truck.

The child, who has not been formally identified, suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragic accident happened this afternoon in Stechford, Birmingham.

Police were called at about 5pm to reports of a truck hitting a wall, which collapsed onto the child.

Inspector Paul Bennett, from West Midlands Police, said: "This is a very tragic set of circumstances - words cannot describe what his family are going through and our thoughts are with them at this time.

"Specialist officers will be supporting the boy's family and - as with all serious and fatal collisions - an investigation has been launched to establish the cause."
