The rail operator has revealed the haul of bizarre belongings left in carriages by Londoners it has recovered since taking over the franchise from South West Trains last month.

The list also includes an ironing board, a pirate flag complete with pole, a pair of false teeth and an assortment of different prizes from Thorpe Park.

All the items are being kept in an office at London Waterloo, with SWR encouraging passengers to check their belongings before leaving the trains.

Michael Pugh, South Western’s customer experience manager at Waterloo station, said: “Our staff from across the network work hard to ensure passengers are reunited with their belongings.

“However, we would encourage everyone to check they have their belongings before they leave our trains. Keys, phones and wallets are always such a pain to lose but it’s the sentimental items that really cause problems for passengers.”

The most common items left behind were umbrellas, coats, wallets, phones, and laptops among others.
