Tinder Plus paid-for service starts TODAY

Tinder addicts can pay up to £14.99 a month from today to increase their chances of finding love, the Standard can reveal.

The dating app’s new premium paid-for service is called Tinder Plus. It offers users the ability to find partners in foreign countries, unlimited right-swipes, or likes, and a rewind button to recover mistaken swipes.

Users under the age of 28 who want the extra functions will be charged £3.99 a month, and those over 28 will pay £14.99. The app will remain free, though non-paying users will no longer be able to make unlimited right-swipes.

The company’s chief executive and co-founder Sean Rad told the Standard Tinder Plus offered the features users have been requesting since the app launched in 2012, and he predicted that the most dedicated Tinder daters would pay for the service. “There are users that are just so active — they are just almost addicted to the platform,” he said.

The Passport function allows users to flirt with partners in countries where they intend to travel, and the Rewind button overcomes the problem of mistakenly flicking past attractive potential dates.

He said the decision to charge will both generate revenue and allow the company to promote “better usage patterns”, adding: “These features aren’t something that everyone is going to want to use, and we sort of don’t want everyone to use them.”

The basic US price for Tinder Plus is $9.99.
