Google to launch Indoor Maps in UK

Google maps will soon let users find their way around indoors.

The internet giant is launching an addition to their online maps service which shows users detailed plans inside buildings.

The Indoor Maps facility is to launch on Android devices in the UK from next Tuesday, it was announced today.

Harrods, the British Museum and the O2 Arena are among landmarks in the capital to have their floor plans available to browse on hand.

The app also lets you share your location with friends.

Landlords will be able to submit their floor plans in later updates.

The interiors of private and government buildings will not be included.

Razia Ahamed, Google UK Geo Indoor Partnerships lead, said: "You’ll no longer need to feel clueless when you’re at the railway station because you’ll have all the answers in the palm of your hand.”

Indoor Maps is available for 40 UK locations, 34 of which are in London.
