E3 2016: Microsoft unveil Xbox One S console - a 40% smaller, 4K ultra-HD upgrade

Microsoft have unveiled a brand new version of the Xbox One console at the E3 gaming expo.

The new model is titled the Xbox One S, with a redesigned look and upgraded hardware.

The Xbox One S features a brand new white outer casing, and boasts 4K ultra-HD visual capabilities with HDR playback for gaming and video. It’s also slimmed down, and is now 40% smaller than the previous model.

The console features a re-designed slimmer controller and a hard-drive of up to 2TB, double the capacity of the current top-level Xbox One.

Unlike the previous Xbox One, the S model can be displayed vertically, and has got rid of the ‘power brick’ that connected the console to your home power socket.

The new model is set to go on sale in August, and will start from $299 for the 500GB version, $349 for the 1TB version, and $399 for the 2TB model.

The reveal came at the start of the Microsoft presentation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, which sees the announcement of new video game consoles, hardware, and upcoming games.
