Harwich and North Essex MP Bernard Jenkin, a former member of the defence select committee, called for the scrapping of Harrier jump jets to be reconsidered in light of the Libyan no-fly-zone. The call to reconsider Harrier was echoed by Lord West of Spithead, former head of the Navy. And General Lord Dannatt, former head of the Army, said: "The world has moved on, so must government policy."
