A Tory source accused Mr Miliband of trying to distract attention from revelations relating to union influence that have rocked his party in recent days: “All this stuff about MPs’ outside earnings is all completely diversionary. It’s the wrong question and wrong answer. None of what he’s said changes the fact that he has not broken the link between the unions and the Labour Party.”
