General election 2019: What we know so far in London as polling stations close and counts begin

Polling stations across London have shut their doors as the capital awaits the results in 74 key constituencies tonight.

Millions of voters around the city have cast their ballots today in what is one of the most historic elections the nation has seen.

Several knife-edge contests have played out in battleground London seats over an impassioned five week election campaign, with counts now getting under way in halls across all boroughs.

But Londoners ensured polling day was no less exciting. In key events across the capital on December 12:

Kensington and Richmond Park were won by a combined 60 votes in 2017 and promise to prove exciting, while Labour defect Luciana Berger hopes to swing Finchley & Golders Green for the Liberal Democrats.
