The leaders of Westminster’s five opposition parties are set to make a final plea to the electorate in a live TV election debate.
Labour’s Ed Miliband, SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, the Green Party’s Natalie Bennett, Ukip leader Nigel Farage and Leanne Wood of Plaid Cymru are taking part in the BBC debate this evening.
Notable for its exclusion of coalition leaders David Cameron and Nick Clegg, the debate will give the opposition parties the chance to highlight what they see as the failings of the Conservative-Liberal Democrat partnership.
Earlier in the week Mr Clegg complained at his exclusion saying the debate would be “lopsided” without either of the Government parties.
The contest, which will be hosted by BBC election veteran David Dimbleby, will be aired on BBC1 at 20:00.
