At one point there was a move, later abandoned, to report him to the Standards Board, the watchdog of behaviour in public life. In the end Ken's government ally Mr Prescott granted permission for the Vauxhall Tower. It has yet to be built. But, thanks to Ken, it was a victory for Pidgley.
