Initial plans for the Labour primary require the public to become “registered supporters” and pay a small fee. Labour peer Lord Collins, who formed the initial proposals, suggested that it would likely be around £3.
But the Standard has learned that London Labour’s regional board discussed the idea of a fee anywhere between £3 and £10. Members wanted to keep the price down but believed it had to be high enough to deter people from taking part frivolously.
The discussion will feed into a decision to be taken by the party’s National Executive Committee.
