Redgrave saw her first film, Henry V, at the cinema in 1946 when it was the 2,000-seater Regal and had an organist. The Oscar-winning actress, who has a home in Chiswick, still visits the cinema with her grandchildren. She said: “It has lost a bit of paint over the years but there are practically no community places left. Nothing can replace going out with a girlfriend, grandmother, brother or sister to see a film.”
