Roof collapses with scaffolding on Walthamstow street

This was the dramatic scene in north-east London this morning after the roof of a terraced house collapsed.

Firefighters said the entire rooftop fell to ground level as scaffolding also tumbled from the side of the building into the Walthamstow street.

No-one was trapped or injured by the collapse but three people were led to safety through the garden, the London Fire Brigade said.

A car with tinted back windows appeared in photographs to have been damaged by the falling scaffolding.

Emergency services were called shortly after 10am to the scene on Queens Road.

A surveyor from Waltham Forest council was also called to the scene, LFB said.
