The BBC has declined to comment on The One Show incident, while Mr Carr's spokesman could not be reached for comment.
No stranger to controversy, Mr Carr found himself in hot water earlier this year after he suggested Madonna was taking Hormone Replacement Therapy drugs when he was on stage presenting a Brit Award in February.
His joke drew criticism from people on social media including TV host Richard Madeley who said it was "unfunny, anti-woman and cheap".
